About Norway Scotland Newsletter

Back in the seventeenth century, you’d wait for a ship to come in to one of Scotland’s many harbours, from Dunbar to Lerwick, to get your news from Norway. Whether it was a merchant’s ‘brev’ or letter sealed in wax, or maybe a bittie gossip from the sailor crew, it all had to cross the sea.

And vice versa ‘o’er the faem tae Norraway’.

Now you can get Norway Scotland Newsletter, an occasional email ‘brev’ without getting wet! No need for a soaking of sea spray!

So, what’s the news?

Growing out of the six and more year old Norwegian Scottish Association members’ newsletter, Norway Scotland Newsletter is for everyone. A non-profit community newsletter with a reach as wide as you want to make it.

Short articles about Scottish-Norwegian cultural links and history, plus selected news from Scotland’s several Norwegian community organisations and a wee ‘What’s on’ will keep you reading safely from the sofa – and hopefully not all at sea!

Yours truly

Dr Sally Garden, NSN Editor
